Professor Jan Awrejcewicz is the Head of the Deaprtment of Automation, Biomechanics and Mechatronics at the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering of Lodz University of Technology. In over 40 years of scientific activity, training of scientific and academic staff and organisational activity, which translates into the development of culture, economy and society in the international and national dimension, he has achieved outstanding results.
Professor Awrejcewicz is the author or co-author of 383 papers published in journals with an impact factor (IF), 123 papers published in other journals, 361 peer-reviewed papers published in foreign (293) and domestic conference proceedings (68), and the total impact factor (ΣIF) of these papers is 493.522. Moreover, he is the author or co-author of 27 monographs in English.
Professor has conducted research abroad for many years, which constitutes a total of about 10 years, including:
- the United States at Berkeley, at the University of California and the University of Illinois under the Fulbright and Tadeusz Kościuszko Foundations,
-Germany in Brunswick under the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation,
- Japan at the University of Tokyo under the Japan Society for the Promotion of Science and the Science and Technology Research Center (honorary professor Mitsubishi)
and in France in Lyon under several different foundations.
The Alexander von Humboldt Award for research and teaching achievements Among the greatest and most prestigious foreign awards granted to the Professor. He is the supervisor of 27 doctoral theses. He participates in the work of many prestigious committees and scientific societies, including as a full member of the Polish Academy of Sciences, a member of the Central Commission for Titles and Degrees, and now in the Council for Scientific Excellence. He has received honorary doctorates from 6 universities.
His activities have been honoured with high national awards: Golden Cross of Merit (1996); Medal of the Ministry of Education (1998); Knight's Cross of the Order of Polonia Restituta (2001); Officer's Cross of the Order of Polonia Restituta (2012). Professor's name was listed in "Stanford University Names World's Top 2% Scientists".

The award for the most valuable implementation in 2021 was given to three units: Institute of Turbomachinery, Institute of General and Ecological Chemistry and Institute of Materials Engineering.
The prize for the most valuable implementation in 2022 was awarded to the Institute of Turbomachinery.
The award for the most valuable implementation in 2023 was awarded to the Institute of Turbomachinery at the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering and the Department of Environmental Engineering at the Faculty of Process and Environmental Engineering.
