The results of the latest edition of the Times Higher Education Impact Rankings have been published, in which Lodz University of Technology was at the forefront of Polish universities.
Lodz University of Technology, as one of the two Polish universities, advanced in the general classification from the range of 801-1000 to the range of 601-800 and thus found itself in the Polish top. Only 4 out of 16 Polish universities classified in the ranking were in this range. In addition to TUL, these are: University of Gdańsk, University of Warsaw and Gdańsk University of Technology.
TUL received the highest rating for its activities aimed at achieving SDG 8. Decent Work and Economic Growth, taking 1st place in the country and placing itself in the world TOP 200. TUL was also ranked first in the country in SDG 17. Partnership for the Goals, at the same time moving into the world's TOP 300 (up from 601-800). The university also competed in SDG 3 - Good Health and Wellbeing; SDG 9 - Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure and SDG 10 - Reduced Inequalities.
The general classification included 1406 universities from 106 countries or regions. The places on the podium were taken by Western Sydney University (Australia, up from 17th place last year), Arizona State University (USA, up from 9th place), Western University (Canada, up from 52nd place).
THE Impact Ranking takes into account the activities of universities in terms of the implementation of 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) constituting the basis of the so-called 2030 Agenda for sustainable development of the world adopted by the UN, taking into account the economic, social and environmental aspects.
The ranking methodology allows institutions to show rapid improvement from year to year, e.g. by introducing new policies at the university or providing more and more precise and convincing evidence confirming the progress of the university in the application.
